K League Round 9: Brief Review
Quick Recap of the weekend's action as midweek is upon us.
Ulsan got back to winning ways on their domestic return after their painful semi-final ACL exit on pens. Crisis mode continues at Gwangju FC and FC Seoul. While Daegu FC’s new manager got off to a positive start rescuing a point away at Jeonbuk with two injury time goals. Gimcheon went clear at the top as Pohang’s lack of goals continues to be a problem as they slip off the top of the table. Daejeon and Suwon picking up good wins as Incheon recover some pride after their painful 4-1 defeat at Gangwon the week before.
Ulsan HD 3-1 Jeju United

Ulsan put their ACL exit behind them with an electric 2nd half performance. Jeju played their part in an entertaining affair, but after taking the lead quickly conceded the equaliser a minute later. After Ulsan had drawn level their was only going to be one winner with Bojanic and, playing his last game before joining the military side, Lee Dong-gyeong pulling the strings

Pohang Steelers 0-0 Incheon United

The visitors will feel the more disappointed with the point after playing the last 30 minutes with an extra man and creating more chances throughout. Oberdan got the two yellow cards and will now miss the midweek game but offensive woes continues with this their 2nd straight 0-0 at home. Incheon will be happy with the clean sheet after changing 3 of the back 4 including goalkeeper but poor finishing their issue as well with Cheon Seung-hoon having their best chance.

Pohang are away at Gangwon on Wednesday with Incheon taking on Jeonbuk at home.
Daejeon Hana Citizen 3-1 FC Seoul

Change of goalkeeper did nothing to help capital club FC Seoul’s defensive woes, who have conceded 10 goals in the 3 games that Kim Ju-sung has missed. Daejeon, who are missing a number of key players themselves, relied on a good mix of youth and experience with the older members of the squad Ju Se-jong and Kim Seung-dae grabbing the goals as they got their 2nd win of the season with relative ease.

FC Seoul will try to turn around their run of 3 defeats in a row away at Suwon FC. Daejeon take on league leaders Gimcheon at home with both games on Tuesday.
Gimcheon Sangmu 1-0 Gangwon FC

The army side went top of the table with the game all about the effectiveness of the subs. Gimcheon’s Lee Jung-min returned from injury to score the only goal of the game, while Gangwon had to finish the game with 10 men after using all their subs and Gabriel unable to continue. Gangwon also took off Tuci and Lee Sang-heon with midfielder Lee Gi-hyuk playing centre back making the crucial mistake for the goal.

Gimcheon play away at Daejeon on Tuesday with Gangwon getting an extra day’s rest and host Pohang on Wednesday.

5 becomes 6 as Gwangju’s consective losses continue to mount up. Conceding straight after scoring and late in halves has been the home sides issue all season
Suwon FC make it 3 wins from 3 and will be happy to get their 3rd late win of the season.

Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors 2-2 Daegu FC

The hosts somehow found themselves 2 goals up heading into injury time in the 2nd half. Daegu had been far the better side with Jeonbuk looking completely lost in possession and despite conceding twice in the 93rd and 95th minute, Jeonbuk should consider themselves lucky to get a point with Kim Jin-su perhaps lucky to not get a second yellow for a thigh high challenge. Daegu’s first game under Park Chang-hyun was one of promise with the two goalscorers born in 2003 and 2004 and the return of Bobshin to the Xi and Edgar off the bench.
