The Denso Cup is an annual tournament between Japanese and Korean university teams, culminating in a best XI match of senior students (aged 20–22) called the ‘Regular Match,’ with each nation taking turns to host the tournament. Famous players such as Kim Min-jae and Kaoru Mitoma have competed in this competition

This year, it was Japan’s turn to host, with the game taking place at Todoroki Athletics Stadium on the 20th. This was the 24th edition of the match, and Japan’s dominance over Korea continues. The Korean university team has yet to win on Japanese soil, and they fell 1-0 here, though they were fortunate to escape without a heavier defeat. Japan has now won the last four meetings, with Korea’s last victory coming in 2022
